Google Say Social Networks Should Be Google-able

Speaking at an IBM conference, CEO Eric Schmidt put forward his ideas for easier search and movement of data and information between social networking portals. Along with other search engines, Google has already registered patents to use social media techniques within its search results. That means traffic and votes on bookmarking sites could potentially determine where a web page appears.

Social media and social networking is increasingly being used as a search engine optimisation tool in an approach pioneered by the SEO department at Top Position. Using traffic flows and the sense of community, sites such as blogger.com and digg.com are used to create a brand buzz, raising awareness amongst the target demographic.
