The proposed addition to the AdWords box of tricks will see PPC adverts introduced to the video sharing site. Although the format these adverts will take is not yet known, it is believed Google have already started to develop the technology that will make this possible. Google’s CEO has also stated that the adverts will not be the expected PPC video click to play and will not take up space within the video files themselves.

Rather than disrupt the video footage, the adverts are set to take centre stage around the video player and promise to use the web space in “new and exciting ways”. Analysts and industry insiders have long expected Google to develop more obvious ways of increasing advertising revenue from YouTube following a $1.65 billion acquisition cost.

Immensely popular, the file sharing site offers tremendous pay per click opportunities. Today’s plans follow a trial stint for overlay ads last year. Appearing over the video files, the move was not well received by some viewers and forced Google back to the advertising drawing board.
